About me
Noelani Mussman loves infusing joy, play and maker thinking into developing teachers and school leaders. Currently she works on professional development and supports for public and public charter schools in the office of teaching and learning at OSSE (Office of State Superintendent). Before working across city schools, she worked in DC public charter schools since 2006 as an Assistant Principal, Instructional Coach, and Director of Professional Development. Her work in schools has focused primarily on elementary and early childhood dual language programs and the creation of more equitable experiences for diverse learners and caregivers. Previously, she led a community college Americorps Jumpstart site in San Francisco, worked on community schools advocacy in DC, and was a 9th grade English and Creative Writing teacher in Baltimore. Noelani is passionate about guiding young children to discover the wonder of the world around them while developing their critical thinking skills, and empowering teachers to be reflective, culturally responsive, innovative practitioners. Noelani holds a BA in education and comparative literature from Brown University, an MA in teaching from Johns Hopkins University and a doctoral student at George Washington University studying the impact of Project Zero initiatives on teacher and student development.
