About me
Kashira Turner is an IB Coordinator and middle school math educator in Richmond, Virginia, with over a decade of experience in public education. Kashira designs and leads professional development that helps educators implement engagement and inquiry-based practices (including Project Zero thinking routines) into everyday teaching and learning. She has also empowered youth through faith-based initiatives during her undergraduate studies in Chicago and graduate studies in California and continues to do so now. Kashira is passionate about supporting all students, especially those from underserved backgrounds, in developing the skills and confidence needed for success in school and in life. She believes that every learner, regardless of background or circumstance, has the potential to achieve great things. Her work centers on affirmation, identity, and creating meaningful learning experiences that empower students to see themselves as capable learners and active participants in their growth. As an entrepreneur, Kashira impacts lives academically through her tutoring business and inspires others through her faith-based nonprofit organization and her poetry. This is her fourth year participating in WISIT.
