About me
Kara Kling (she/her) teaches Humanities and serves as 8th Grade Dean at Maret. She is committed to experimenting with instructional approaches that support equity and promote students' understanding and engagement. In her curriculum design work, and as co-coordinator of Maret's "Middle School Day of Dialogue," she uses thinking routines to foster meaningful reflection and help students grapple with complex topics. Kara earned her AB degree in history and literature from Harvard College and her M.Ed. in teaching and curriculum from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. This is her tenth year on the WISSIT faculty, and she has also presented workshops for DCPZ, NCTE, Private Schools with Public Purpose, and the Smithsonian National Education Summit. At WISSIT '26 she will co-lead a learning group and lead an interactive course.
