About me
Jon E. Berg (he/him) began his career in environmental education, where he discovered his passion for teaching during his Peace Corps service in Cape Verde, leading a sea turtle conservation initiative. Since 2012, he has taught preschool through second grade in Washington, DC. He currently leads a Reggio-inspired, mixed-age Pre-K classroom at a D.C. Public School. Jon is committed to building meaningful, long-term partnerships with local organizations and museums, using these connections to extend classroom learning through field experiences. He believes children thrive in environments that honor their ideas, relationships, and ways of thinking, and he values the creativity and responsiveness that a Reggio-inspired approach makes possible. He holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Trinity Washington University; a Master of Forest Resources and Conservation, and a BS in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation, both from the University of Florida.
