Helena Gibson is a passionate middle school Math educator with 12 years of experience. She received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Edward Waters University. For the past nine years, she has taught at Saint Thomas More Catholic Academy in Washington, D.C.Previously working in Data and Assessments reignited her desire to return to the classroom in Jacksonville, Florida. A lifelong learner, Helena was introduced to Project Zero (PZ) ideas, which transformed her approach to teaching. She has participated in four PZ cohorts, including an intensive study on mindsets. Helena infuses PZ thinking strategies into her math instruction, creating a classroom that nurtures inquiry, discovery, and critical thinking. Her work empowers students to advocate for themselves and others, challenge systems, and become agents of change.
