About me
Deborah envisions a world where all young people experience belonging and agency, within and beyond the school walls. As the Senior Manager for the John Lewis Leadership Program in Fairfax County Public Schools, Deborah partners with students, staff, and community organizations to connect all Lewis High School students to Congressman Lewis's legacy and their own power to change the world. Project Zero has been a crucial part of the new story of teaching and learning that the Lewis community is creating as they build the Lewis Leadership Program together. Youth and adults draw on Project Zero tools and practices when they lead instructional innovation and community action projects. Deborah has taught across middle school, high school, and college levels, and has held leadership roles at the school, division, and state levels. She has a B.A. in English literature from the City College of New York and an M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in African American Studies and American Studies from Yale University.
